Review: A.T.O.N is the first of an action series by Lindsay Anne Kendal. I usually love when a story hits the ground running but the pace kept up too long and left me feeling disconnected to the characters. At some point the action segued to heavy dialogue. So heavy that at times I had to back track to figure out who was speaking. Maybe my disconnection to the characters impaired my ability to hear their voices. This also allowed me to the put the book down very easily. The characters were introduced and described in a way that gave me a great starting point to see their arc through this 4 book series. I wanted more back story or personal details sooner. The flashback when K explains to Declan how she knew his dad was well done. I wanted more of that! I enjoyed Kendal’s growth as a writer; her syntax and vocabulary have increased and the research she clearly undertook give the story a very realistic feel.
