I really enjoyed this book, it was steamy and I love that Juliette doesn't act like a damsel in distress, she is strong and smart. Also KILIAN IS A HOTTIE!!

I had high hopes for this book. In fact, I was ecstatic to have the whole series thanks to Charlotte. The description made the book seem fantastic. Sadly, the book did not reach my expectations.
The book was a cross between Twilight and The Vampire Diaries. To me, it felt like a great fanfiction. In all honesty, I thought it could be a wonderful fanfiction. However, the book seemed too close to both franchises to be considered an original work or be published. The story was okay. Because the plot was similar to Twilight, I felt like I already read it. The concept was great and again, the story was incredible for a spinoff of Twilight. The romance in the story was not my favorite. I don't like when a character falls in love at first sight. Also, the chemistry felt rushed. My advice to Charlotte is to make the characters' relationships develop slower to build anticipation. The characters were okay. There was a lack of development which made it harder to connect with them. In the next novel, I would like to see more backstories and development. Overall, I wanted more. It wasn't awful but I wished for better. I hope to see more originality in the upcoming books. I wish that Charlotte's other books will take a new perspective on the series. I can see the potential in the story. I was expecting so much more from this book. It started off OK and then I was a bit disappointed at the fact that it reminded me too much of other series and shows I like. For example: Twilight (my all time fave) Vampire diaries, and Charmed. It had a few things that grabbed me and I wanted to know more about but didn't get to because they were not brought up again at length. I'll give it 2.5/5 stars.
Title: Six of Crows
Author: Leigh Bardugo Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy Date of Publication: July 28th 2015 Publisher: Henry Holt and Company Pages: 465 What is wrong with me? Whenever I encounter an overly praised book, I never understand the hype. It isn’t that I don’t like the books but when I read from the category labeled ‘beloved books’ the stories seem to fall flat for me. Despite my common misfortune, I was certain that Six of Crows would be the exception. Sadly, it did not reach my expectations. Perhaps it was because I never finished the Grisha trilogy or that my book club decided to read it when I was in a big contemporary phase, but I did not enjoy reading Six of Crows. After only reading the first book of the Grisha trilogy and loving it, I decided to try and read Six of Crows. Normally I would finish the series first but I had not bought the second book and my book club wanted to read Six of Crows. I had heard from various people that you do not need to read the Grisha trilogy to readSix of Crows. While reading the first few chapters, I felt like I was starting a TV show in the middle of its series. There were too many characters being introduced and the plot felt like it didn’t have an introduction. With that being said, I did not finish the book. Maybe when I get over my contemporary phase then I will read Six of Crows. I am trying really hard to enjoy the book. Title: A.T.O.N.
Author: Lindsay Anne Kendall Genre: Action Date of Publication: January 26th, 2016 Published by: Lindsay Anne Kendall Number of Pages:Paperback, 330 pages I am not a big fan of action books, therefore this review may be not as reliable. However, Lindsay's other previous series was incredible!! For me, A.T.O.N. was an okay read. I did not dislike it but I did not love it. I feel like I did not have a strong connection towards the characters. Also, the chemistry between the characters fell a little flat. Throughout the story, the book tended to be dialogue-heavy which, to me, makes the story quicker to read. The characters were enjoyable. I didn't really like Declan. I felt that he was too invested in revenge. I really liked how Lindsay added the flashbacks of K. I really wish we had more backstories for the characters so that I could connect with them more. The action in this book was not great. I felt it was overshadowed by the dialogue. I always enjoy books that are dialogue-heavy but this had too much dialogue at times. I did enjoy the overall premise of this series starter and cannot wait to see how it all plays out. You can see how much Lindsay grows as an author. I can't wait to read the rest of the series! A.T.O.N is Lindsay Anne Kendal’s latest book and unlike her Bloodlines Trilogy, this book takes place in the everyday world – if the everyday world were full of action and explosions on every street corner that is. This book was fast paced and loaded with action but the characters seemed to fall flat for me and that made it too easy for me to put the book down. The motion of the plot is very well written though so I highly recommend this book to anyone who prefers an action packed plot. In the end, I give this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars. Spoiler section (If you read this before reading the book, K is coming for you) I did like this book but I don’t imagine it’s something that I will feel compelled to re-read frequently in the future. A lot of that, I think, is because I’m not a huge fan of action books or films. However, there were other things as well. For me, the main hang up was that I didn’t have any attachment to any of the characters and what I did see of most of those characters made me want to smack them. The one character we see the most is K and even she remains a mystery (though in her case, it makes more sense because that’s the point of her character.) The one character I absolutely hated because of his attitude was Phil. I thought he was a jerk. Declan, the main character, seemed overly fixated on revenge to the point that I can’t imagine he would actually be an effective detective. Not only that, but I though he used his parents' death as an excuse for his poor temperament way too much. The other issue I had with this book is that, when there wasn’t any action going on, there was long dialogue. A lot of the time, it felt like the characters were monologuing on a stage and for me that got boring. To top it off, the book opened with a crazy amount of action but ended with none. The ending felt like a whisper and it was a little bit of a letdown. While I do look forward to reading the next book so that I can see what happens, I’m not really chomping at the bit because the ending was so soft that it didn’t leave me hanging on. I was able to close the book and set it down and continue on with my life and I feel like the book could have had a much stronger ending. Starting with explosions and ending with two characters saying they’re going to work together doesn’t really seem like a complete narrative arc for the book. This book did do well in leaving room for predictions for the second book. For starters, I’m terrified for Ferrah and Phil’s life. I honestly think one of them will die in the next book. I don’t trust Jodie or Joe – I’m convinced one of them will betray the group because of the way they are acting in the first book (even though in our live stream Kendal tried to tell me otherwise without giving too much away). However, I don’t have any definite clues yet so I don’t know if I’m paranoid or picking up on subtle hints. I look forward to seeing which it is. The most interesting part of this book was the fact that it showed a lot of growth in Lindsay Anne Kendal’s writing style and it was nice to see her branching into a different genre (even if I spent over half the book expecting K to reveal to Declan that she was an alien from a distant galaxy). The syntax and diction was on a whole new level for Lindsey and I truly enjoyed the writing style. I look forward to seeing how she continues to grow in all of her other books. WHAT A WAY TO END A BOOK! I loved every second of it!! Looking forward to any and all of Lindsay's books!!!
